– here we go wet hop –

source url
my favorite time of the year has finally arrived! we have cool weather, fall foliage, and, as of last week, we have the 2010 lineup of wet hop ales!

http://jannaorganic.co.uk/blog/2025/04/03/a6521n4ll in case you missed my post at the beginning of the summer, wet/fresh hop ales are by far my favorite beers and are only around for a couple months of the year. this type of beer is unique to american craft breweries and is quite the treat when you can find them. these tasty brews are made with wet hops that are delivered to the brewery the same day they are harvested. the brewers are waiting on hand to add the wet hops to the kettle while at the peak of their freshness. the result is one of the hoppiest, most flavorful beers around. it’s the equivalent of cooking with fresh herbs rather then dried ones.

https://reggaeportugal.com/myrtpkn so far i have only been able to find sierra nevada’s northern hemisphere harvest in atlanta, but i am sure many more will be available soon. in the meantime northern hemisphere harvest is totally satisfying my fix.

follow url i will be trying any and all wet/fresh hops ales i can find this fall, so be sure to check back for more reviews! i hear from my buddy rob in oregon that the rogue wet hop ale is also great, hopefully he can send me one.

– punkin ale –

enter site
it’s that time of year again! today is the first day of autumn and by now most breweries have released their fall lineup of seasonal beers, including pumpkin ales. i recently tried punkin ale from dogfish head craft brewery ales out of milton, delaware. it’s a great full-bodied brown ale with a mild pumpkin flavor. sometimes the spices in pumpkin ales can be overwhelming, but this one is well balanced and perfect for fall weather. if you are looking for a new seasonal beer to drink during cooler times then definitely consider punkin ale.

– a grand entrance –

i’ve been doing some work this week at the georgia convention center, which i had never been to before. there are these crazy space-age, giant pillars along the entrance to the grounds. it was much more grand than i expected.

i took these photos with my new phone. i’ve been super impressed with the picture quality, although i haven’t printed any photos yet.

– sunset atlanta –

i recently worked in the w hotel in downtown atlanta and got to see an amazing sunset from the 27th floor. i had never seen one from such great heights, especially over a downtown setting. i took some photos with my new phone and they look awesome! it shoots super wide photos, so be sure to check out the larger versions.

– wall art –

what started out as a goal to write a blog post every day for a month quickly turned into an entire month without any posts. well, we hope to get back into the swing of things with regular updates and postings.

here’s one…

i enjoy all the graffiti and murals found along dekalb avenue and that part of town and recently saw some new (at least new to me) artwork on the building next to eyedrum. there are obviously different artists and styles working together there. i was told the building is split into various artist spaces, some of whom probably worked on the wall art… way better than the beige blotches the neighborhood associations make when covering up graffiti & art.

i am diametrically opposed to the beige blotches.

– two hearted ale –

over the weekend i tried two hearted ale by bell’s brewery out of kalamazoo, michigan. this beer was awesome! it’s a well balanced india pale ale that’s extremely hoppy and 7% abv. the hops were citrusy and floral yet not too bitter, it’s quite the refreshing beer. if you enjoy an IPA, give two hearted ale a try, it’s one of the best!.

– shaw’s fish & lobster wharf –

as mentioned in yeterday’s post, we had some great dockside seafood after visiting pemaquid point lighthouse. the restaurant was called shaw’s fish & lobster wharf and was quite amazing! we tried a fried clam roll and various lobster treats, including lobster stew. we also enjoyed watching fisherman unload lobsters off their boats while we ate outside, it was quite the new england experience!

– maine lighthouses –

another sterritt family tradition when visiting maine is to check out as many lighthouses as possible. a favorite of ours is cape neddick, aka nubble lighthouse, which is close to york beach. the lighthouse is on an island, so you can’t get super close, but it is still gorgeous. the lighthouse keeper travels back and forth to the island on a sky rail type device, you can see it dangling over the ocean in the image above. the surrounding coast is filled with enormous rocks that are fun to explore. one year it was so foggy that we couldn’t even see the lighthouse.

this past summer we visited pemaquid point lighthouse for the first time. this beautiful lighthouse is featured on the maine quarter. we were able to climb to the top for some amazing views of the coast and also walk around the rocky cliffs. afterwards, we ate some awesome seafood at a nearby dockside restaurant that had lobsters fresh off the boats.

we have also been to portland head lighthouse, although we have yet to climb it. the lighthouse offers great views of portland, maine and the rocky coast. ram island ledge lighthouse is also visible from portland head.

another maine lighthouse we have explored is cape elizabeth. the rocky beaches near this lighthouse are amazing, we spent some time taking in the beautiful scenery. we also dipped our feet into the ocean, which was totally freezing!

we have also seen seguin island lighthouse, cuckolds lighthouse, and hendrick’s head lighthouse from reid state park, although they were too far to photograph.

check out this map of maine lighthouses.
