– here’s to 31 –

i turned 31 today, which is quite crazy! unfortunately i had to work all day, so i didn’t do much celebrating. we are going to do something this weekend though, i can’t wait!

isn’t the card awesome? gub made it for my mom’s birthday and i tweaked it for my birthday!

we had a little gathering for my birthday, which also doubled as an introduction for those who hadn’t met clementine. it was a ton of fun!!!! we grilled chicago dogs and burgers!

– so that happened –

i turned 30, which is kind of crazy. to make the most of such a big birthday, i tried to do something fun every hour and take photos.

here’s what i got into:

– another albariño –

after recently trying an albariño, we’ve been keeping an eye out for other wines mentioned in last month’s splendid table episode. we found the 2008 la cana at the candler park market in atlanta. we spent a nice summer evening on our front porch drinking this refreshing wine. it went great with the chilled, steamed shrimp leftover from the beaufort stew at gub’s mom’s birthday.

the wine describes itself as:
“where the steep hillside vineyards meet the tranquil rias you’ll find groves of rush canes known locally as juncos which are as emblematic of galicia as the albariño grape itself. offering lush aromas of white peaches and ripe pears followed by flavors of pineapple and bright citrus the wine finishes on a crisp dry wine.”

– t minus 30 –

6 months from today i’ll be 30. that’s crazy! today also happens to be my sister amy’s birthday. when i called to wish her a happy birthday she reminded me it’s my half birthday and i’ll be 30 soon. when we were younger we realized the 6 month difference and milked it for extra gifts out of our parents.
