– adventures in nashville –

we had such a wonderful vacation in nashville! here are more photos from our adventure! click and drag the image to scroll through them! not sure if you can tell from the photo, but grey tried a snow cone topped with cotton candy at assembly food hall!

i knew nashville was known for live music and have been to austin, tx and athens, ga and other music towns before, but I was not expecting the amount of live music that goes down in nashville. bands start playing everywhere by 10am and go way into the evenings. even the downtown taco bell we saw had a live band playing and guitars hanging all over the walls. and if a place had multiple floors, there were different bands on every floor. that along with tons of people walking around holding guitars was surreal! felt like a movie set.

then there was the insane amount of bachelorette and 40th birthday parties there was quite hilarious as well. party busses were constantly driving by!

– wooden wall –

#woodenwall #krogstreetmarket
check out this great wood design! it’s outside the entrance to superica from inside the krog street market. it looks like the restaurant was designed by the same people behind the optimist.

the food at superica is also really awesome, check out their menu. they have an avocado salsa verde, which could be the best salsa i’ve tasted. they also have these puffy tacos that were extremely tasty and unlike any tacos i’ve had before!!! the chef is ford fry, who also runs the optimist, No 246 and king and duke.

loving the decatur farmer’s market in the rain! it’s open every wednesday from 4 – 7 pm in front of the first baptist church in downtown decatur. it’s also open on saturdays from 9am – 1pm. the kids love the live music and running around in the grass. it’s become a weekly ritual.

we took the kids to krispy kreme this morning for some delicious doughnuts this morning! grey and clementine stayed in their pajama, which they were pumped about. they also loved being able to watch the doughnuts being made.

– intuition & moxie –

as part of intuition ale works 4th anniversary, they are pairing with moxie kitchen + cocktails for an evening of brunch for dinner! it’s actually a dual anniversary celebration, as moxie is turning one the same week. the evening will feature pairings of brunch-themed beers with brunch beers. sounds delicious!

to help promote the event, i created the above design. it’s sort of a connect 4 idea, with both companies connecting (or pairing) in the middle. check out our previous post for intuition ale works full list of anniversary activities!

the best laid plans - photo by: ryan sterritt

we packed up a very nice picnic with the kids and headed out to find the perfect picnic spot, only to be poured on by a huge florida storm within minutes of getting all set up at melbourne beach. it was straight out of a berenstain bears book! clementine was still trying to eat her sandwich as we were running to the car for shelter!

– taproom coffee –

taproom - photo by: ryan sterritt

we are so excited that a great coffee shop opened up in downtown kirkwood! taproom coffee opened it’s doors a couple of weeks ago and is the perfect addition to our neighborhood. they serve specialty coffee, craft beer and snack foods (including charcuterie boards from spotted trotter, soft pretzels from holeman & finch and delicious pastries from mae’s bakery.)

the location is very spacious and comfortable. the vintage seating and lighting works well with the reclaimed wood and soft color palette. it was a definitely a relaxing environment for drinking coffee and/or beer.

taproom coffee started as a kickstarter project from the guy who ran the espresso bar at empire state south. we feel very fortunate they chose kirkwood to open up such a cool place. taproom is open from 7am to 10pm and serves counter culture coffee along with a rotating list of 12 craft beers on draft.

on a side note, i had never had a cortado until visiting taproom. i have to say it was one of the better coffee drinks i’ve had! it’s espresso cut with milk, so similar to a cappuccino but less milk. it was quite tasty and highly recommended!

we are big fans of urban pie in downtown kirkwood! their thin crust pizza is super tasty and they have a great front porch for outdoor eating. they also deliver, so you can’t go wrong.
