– homemade fried pies –

the varsity, an iconic atlanta fast food chain, has amazing homemade fried pies. they are along the lines of ones you find at mcdonalds, only way better. we tried the peach and apple pies during our last visit and loved them. they were tasty and definitely lived up to the hype!

the packaging for the pies is great as well! it looks like they haven’t changed the design since the varsity started serving them.

– w lobby –

the w hotel in midtown atlanta has a really cool chandelier that reflects the morning light throughout the lobby. i often work out of the hotel and enjoy this light as i head in for the day.

– nursery transformation: week five –

as mentioned before, the nursery transformation involved relocating ryan’s record collection to the living room. we also decided we’d like a sofa with arms that we could curl up and watch a movie on, so we ended up getting this bright yellow parlor sofa from cb2. we lucked out and were able to purchase a floor model at a great discount!

here are some images of our new cozy living room. visit the week 3 post in case you missed the before photos.

– green caution –

check out this amazing sticker! we still aren’t quite sure what is going on, but it appears to be some sort of ball following a guy who is about to run into a wall. or something like that…

– nursery transformation: week four –

we assembled the crib, bought a mattress, and found a fun curtain panel to go over the closet door. next on the list: 1. make the new roman shade out of this fun fabric we found at whipstitch, 2. find a new home for the sectional sofa, 3. select a paint color & paint…

– corn dog font –

we have a fun collection of paper food packaging from various fairs and diners. check out this amazing corn dog wrapper! we love the font made out of pieces of wood. i think it came from corndogorama, the annual music and corn dog festival in east atlanta.

– vintage cereal design –

we are big fans of vintage designs and couldn’t resist buying a box of throwback cap’n crunch cereal. the font is really amazing, as is the flat, mid-century character design. i would say nostalgia got the better of us, however, because we totally forgot how much cap’n crunch scrapes the top of your mouth.

check out this site for a ton of vintage cereal box designs, it’s fun to flip through!

– nursery transformation: week three –

so, part of the nursery transformation project included relocating ryan’s rather extensive record collection from the old media room to the living room. the old media room shelves now house my fabric and we got a new ikea shelf for the records…

it’s musical chairs around here! we’ve included some “before” photos of the living room and will post updates on our progress.

– west egg cafe –

i recently went inside the west egg cafe for the first time and loved it! i’ve had their food before, but never had the pleasure of going to the actual restaurant. the interior was decked out with old classroom desks, science tables, a photobooth and even a card catalogue where you found the coffee sweeteners! i really liked their school/industrial design and thought it worked well in the space. i started to take a few photos and realized they had some nice postcards, so check out their great photos!

if you’ve never been to west egg cafe, their food is amazing! they feature an eclectic mix of tasty southern delights, although i’ve only had their lunch. i’ve tried their fried green tomato blt and fried egg sandwich, both of which i would totally recommend. they have another sandwich called the redneck cuban, that comes with sweet tea basted turkey breast, jack cheese, cole slaw, coca-cola barbecue sauce, grilled on white. crazy!

west egg cafe also has a bakery (home to their famous cupcakes), a full coffee bar (serving locally-roasted batdorf & bronson coffee), and various beers on draft. you can’t go wrong with those options!

check out their breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner menu.
