– hallway –

john portman is a world renowned architect who designed many of the buildings in downtown atlanta. he graduated from georgia tech in 1950 and has been designing beautiful buildings all around the world ever since. his atlanta structures are known for being connected with these great hallways, also known as the buildings “arteries.”

– swimming pool –

check out this great swimming pool! it’s on the rooftop of the holiday inn near the braves stadium. it has a sweet view of the city!

– bridge to nowhere –

check out this old bridge i saw today near marietta street and means street. i am not sure where it used to go, but it abruptly ends at a parking lot. and based on the clothes drying and little hut i saw, i assume people are living on the bridge as well. kind of crazy.

– starr’s mill –

i have been working in senoia, ga this entire week. yesterday, my buddy ian and i got up early to check out this amazing mill before work. we had noticed a nearby historical marker earlier in the week and decided to stop by for further exploration. we ended up finding this beautiful old mill, called starr’s mill, next to a gorgeous waterfall. according to the historical marker, the mill was built in 1907 and operated until 1959. it was very picturesque, especially with the fall foliage!

– luther glass park –

i’ve been working in senoia, ga this week. it’s fairly close to peachtree city, which is about an hour south of the atlanta. the fall foliage is quite pretty here, especially in luther glass park.

– euclid theater –

ever wonder about the history of local venues? i often do. after a little research on the variety playhouse, i learned it was originally a world war II era movie theater called the euclid theater, open from 1940-1962. although faded, you can still see the movie theater sign on the side of the venue, which is in the picture above. after a long dormant period and a brief re-opening as a movie theater in the 1980s, the variety playhouse as we know it today opened in 1990.

– falling down –

i saw another pbr painting in east atlanta falling off of a billboard. it looks like i was a little late, but you can still see some of it.

be sure to check out the other murals we found around atlanta in june and august.
