– suntrust building –

have you ever explored the suntrust building and surrounding areas in downtown atlanta? it’s a pretty area to walk around in case you’ve never been. the building is another design by john portman, and besides the cool architecture, there are lots of sculptures around the interior and exterior, including works by pablo picasso. there are also numerous surrounding fountains with great reflections of the downtown skyscrapers.

be sure to check out our previous posts on the americasmart building and connecting hallways.

– americasmart interior –

as mentioned on our blog before, john portman is a famous architect who designed many of the buildings in downtown atlanta. one such famous design is the americasmart building 3, which is home to various trade shows. the interior is quite impressive. it’s completely open with an amazing view of the many floors.

– pbr mural –

it’s been awhile, but i spotted another pbr painting in the virginia highlands. although many of the other pbr murals have been painted over at this point, it was cool to find one i hadn’t seen before!

be sure to check out the other murals we found around atlanta in june and august.

– wall art –

what started out as a goal to write a blog post every day for a month quickly turned into an entire month without any posts. well, we hope to get back into the swing of things with regular updates and postings.

here’s one…

i enjoy all the graffiti and murals found along dekalb avenue and that part of town and recently saw some new (at least new to me) artwork on the building next to eyedrum. there are obviously different artists and styles working together there. i was told the building is split into various artist spaces, some of whom probably worked on the wall art… way better than the beige blotches the neighborhood associations make when covering up graffiti & art.

i am diametrically opposed to the beige blotches.

– cardboard safari –

we love the cardboard white buffalo we got as a wedding gift! it keeps watch over our kitchen record player and is also fun and eco-friendly. the company that makes them is called cardboard safari and is based out of charlottsville, va. other animals are available, including deer, moose, elephant, and rhino in white or brown cardboard. they also have some limited edition pieces, like a skull designed by noah scalin, of the skull-a-day project.

our white buffalo arrived in a flat box with assembly required. it didn’t take long though to pop out the laser-cut pieces, put together, and hang up our cardboard trophy. it’s definitely been a conversation piece with guests ever since.

we recently bought gub’s brother, cullen, a deer trophy for his dorm room. he moves into his new home at the university of south carolina this coming weekend. gub is still in shock that her baby brother is starting college!

order here.

– another pbr painting –

we spotted another pbr mural on the side of the graveyard tavern in east atlanta village. just when we thought we had seen them all, another one pops up.

be sure to check out the paintings in our june post, when we first started noticing the hand-painted ads around atlanta.

– pbr paintings –

have you seen the pbr murals around atlanta?

we just started noticing them and we like the old-fashioned feel of this new advertising campaign. so far, we’ve spotted them in east atlanta, little 5 points, and in the highlands on the back of manuel’s tavern. each painting is unique and features the artist’s name and city. most of them appear to be georgia artists, although we’ve seen out of state artists as well.
